Rollkur

Here is a video about Rollkur. It explains quite simply what hurts the horse and how it really should look when you ride a horse correctly! Unfortunately this is occurring at all show riding events. Dressage, show jumping, western etc. Unfortunately, the judges chose to look the other way. Unfortunately this is how our riding world looks like now. Young riders learn to ride this way.

Fortunately, people like Andrew Mclean and many others are started to teach and train people to ride purely biomechanically correct. People are starting to open their eyes. Natural Horsemanship is flourishing and knowledge about horse anatomy is becoming larger.

Swedish Riders

I would like to praise the Swedish people. Or at least those with horses.

It seem like all the Swedish horse riders keep virtually all horse debates in a really nice tone. It may well be that some of them have some prejudice regarding various riders and disciplines, but I have not come across any ugly or demeaning comments. I think the Danes are much quicker to judge, especially us who ride without bit or bridle.

So I thank the Swedish riders I've come across for some good debates and I look forward to many more.

The effects of the bit

A little important knowledge about the effects of the bit. I think it's important information. And I think this video is really good.

Academic rider?

I have started to read  a lot about the art of riding academic. And I actually think I will throw myself into it. I'm not saying that I will achieve all levels or live by all rules. But I think I will mix in with my own methods and Andrews McLeans methods. The good thing about the academic "discipline" is that all horse breeds are acceptable. There are no horses that are "labeled". And I actually have a baroque characterized horse, so these two things fit very well together :-)

A good start!

It seems that this new year brings me better luck. I have a lot of good news.
1. There is nothing serious wrong with me - I just have a flu.
2. Today came a skilled vet and drew Giga and gave her a vaccine. Giga was an angel and soon her passport is A-okay.
3. And the Flower Farm has written today that it's okay I move Giga without her passports. As long as it is being made.

What a great day and one more thing. Approx one week I have my beautiful baroque pad!

Bent Branderup

I'm almost finished with my book written by Bent Branderup. And I must say that I have gained a new perspective on academic riders and the art of riding academic. It may be that they look a bit snobbish but what I can read from the book, it's not about being perfect. It's about making mistakes so we can correct the wrong things. What a revelation! I must say that I have been gripped by the academic art of riding and the way of handling the horses.

Tired of being sick!

Now I have not ridden my horses for a week. I'm still really sick as hell. My cough is getting worse. Fortunately, I probably get answers on my test tomorrow. I'm really tired and sad.  I have had my cough in 2 months now. It's not fun at all. Especially when I finally got into a good training/riding rhythm with the horses!
