The blog is Up and Running again!

I've taken a long break but now I've got back my interest to convey my knowledge and share my everyday life stories regarding my beautiful horses.

A lot has happened since I last wrote. I've sold my beautiful and clever Shetlandspony, Baltazar. Unfortunately I didn't feel like I had the time I wanted for him. So he lives now with a wonderful family, with two small children who have plenty of time and love to give.

I have moved my horses a little here and there. Especially Victor has had some turbulent years. I chose the winter of 2013 that I had to sell him. I felt like I didn't have time, money nor energy to him at all. However, it went not between the first buyer and him. They couldn't handle him and he was so unhappy there. So I had to drive to the end of Denmark and go get him back. Later that year, I tried again. I found a really nice man. I was visiting them and it all seemed just perfect. But suddenly at the last minute he jumped from the purchase, my gut feeling tells me that he actually had no money to start with but that I'll never find out, his excuse seemed quite strange though.

I tried again shortly after, when one of my dear friends from Sweden wrote to me. I immediately thought she would be the perfect owner for him. So they quickly came and picked him up. It went really well and he seemed so happy. However, when he had to undergo the full veterinarian check, he couldn't go clean through. There was something in his left hind leg that came after the bending test, he got a little stiff and lame. So they wouldn't buy him. Understandably they can't make a good insurance on him and at that time we didn't know if it was getting better or not. It was so sad, they were all very fond of each other and the farewell was very touching.
So everything indicates that he either has been ridden wrong with the man who would buy him or there was an injury occurred perhaps in the paddock. However, they deny everything.

I have chosen after all this uproar that I'm not selling Victor. He's a very special horse and possibly a 100% one-man horse. I've had him at home since late summer 2014, and his hind leg is getting better and better. I have three cute girls who's looking after him and it suits him very well. It's a super solution since I don't even need to spend much time on him but I can still keep an eye on him.

Concerning Giga. It's all good. She still has her great personality, everyone who meets her can't help but love her. The training is going forward, although we have had a long break. It has been cold and very wet this year, and it's two things we both hate. So she's got a good long winter vacation.

Update - Baltazar

The night went well with Baltazar, frankly I think he enjoyed having so much grass alone and a little peace from all the other horses. Unfortunately, he destroyed my beautiful bush with flowers. But I'll survive.
It went fine at the vet. He was badly affected by lice.

He got some injections that was itching suppressant and so I had to wash him in Sebacil. It's been very effective and he's already much better now.

Baltazar is visiting

Baltazar is visiting my garden in Holte. He's going to the vet tomorrow, so my dad and I got the idea that it was easier he slept overnight in my garden, so we don't have to get up early tomorrow.
That pony is just so easy to deal with. He's just going around and enjoying the grass.

He has to go to the vet because he's itching his entire head and body hysterically.

Such a lovely day!

Today I got a lesson in Academic Art Of Riding by wonderful Maria D Cheung. It is always super educational! Giga was a little difficult at first but it all went really well. Given the fact that it's over 2 months since we got a serious lesson. So I'm very satisfied :-D
It was so hard, I have been used to having to walk backwards while I correct her,  now I've gotten so far that I have to walk beside her, ush it was difficult!

It sounds probably odd but in the beginning you go backwards. Most because it's a support and comfort for the horse when they don't know the various signals and it's easier for the rider to correct and see what's right or wrong.

Good Jumpers

Many think that this breed can't jump because of their large bodies and weight. But surprisingly many Irish Cobs are great at jumping.

We tend to compare each other

We tend to compare each other all the time. I know it from myself, I envy riders my age and trainers who have come further than me. I can't help being a bit jealous and compare my own abilities as well as my horses with theirs. But then I found this text on my friend's Facebook wall. And it gave me a lot to reflect on :-)

“Stop comparing where you’re at with where everyone else is. It doesn’t move you farther ahead, improve your situation, or help you find peace. It just feeds your shame, fuels your feelings of inadequacy, and ultimately, it keeps you stuck. The reality is that there is no one correct path in life. Everyone has their own unique journey. A path that’s right for someone else won’t necessarily be a path that’s right for you. And that’s okay. Your journey isn’t right or wrong, or good or bad. It’s just different. Your life isn’t meant to look like anyone else’s because you aren’t like anyone else. You’re a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams, and needs. So stop comparing, and start living.”
