In the quiet light

In the quiet light of the stable, you hear a muffled snort, a stamp of a hoof, a friendly nicker. Gentle eyes inquire “How are you old friend?” and suddenly, all your troubles fade away. -Author Unknown

A nice day

Right now training with Giga is going really well. There's progress every day. Today was the best day so far. She was really calm. When I brushed her, she stood still, when I saddled her up she stood still and when I rode her she was very calm and well balanced. It's really nice to see her like this. Plus now that I have much time for her, I have lots of time to brush her mane and tail every day, so she looks like a real fairy tale horse :-) People on the Flower Farm are absolutely in love with her long tail. Several came to say hey to her when I saddled her up :-D
Unfortunately, I rarely have my camera with me. But I might take some pictures tomorrow.

What a shame

Scary, what people eventually demand of an 3 year old horse ... ahem ... or almost 3 year old horse.
This is a famous Danish dressage rider, I think most people know him. He tells about this new beautiful 3 year old horse that have great potential in the future. I don't now, it's probably destroyed before it reaches the "perfect" age. What a shame, because it is an incredibly beautiful horse.

War Horse

War Horse is truly an amazing film. I must honestly admit that I shed a tear or two. Which the rest of the cinema hall apparently also did. What a gripping movie. I would say that the movie is for everyone, you don't have to be a horse girl to see it. Even my boyfriend shed a tear in secret. He would not admit it to start with. But he was quite moved by the film, although he is not a fan of horses.

Absolutely fantastic

Lady Giga was absolutely fantastic today! I have to trust her more. I rode her with my cavesson. We rode first in the paddock and afterwards I rode out into the forest together with Josefine and her horse Merlin. It's so wonderful when I finally see some good progress. Giga was a completely different horse today. Obedient and calm. + When I stood and brushed her suddenly a giant barn door fell  down over her. It hit her right on the neck and head. The halter took the worst impact and the iron parts burst into pieces. Both me and another woman got a huge shock, but Giga just stood still. That's what I call a cold-blooded horse!
I wonder how the door fell off the wall. It was pretty weird?

So cold!

Today it's quite cold outside. I think it's 10 minus degrees. The soil is rock hard and there is ice everywhere. As soon as I step outside my nose runs like a leaking water tap. I'm not a fan of cold weather, I've said that I will one day live in Italy and it will also happen one day!
With that said, I have so far trained Baltazar. We trained some tricks like lifting things up and give them to me again and Spanish steps. He is just so talented and willing to work. We trained only for 30 min since it was just too cold for me.

If I can pull myself together, I also train Victor today. Ush, the weather holds me back for doing so much. If there only were some more snow so I could buckle a sledge after the horses! That could be fun.

Trust!

One important thing in equine training is that you trust yourself and your horse. The question is do you trust your horse? I rely enough on my horse that I dare to let him run with me on his back without a bit in his mouth. I'll let him be a horse and I'll just follow his pace. I dare stand on him and see a completely different view. I trust my horse because it's the least I can offer him!

"Unserious" day!

Today it was really cold and both I and Victor was a little tired. So the traning today wasn't so serious;  But it's okay to sometimes take it slow and just have some fun. Two of my friends visited me, they took some crazy pictures of our otherwise "not so serious" training's day. It was quite cozy, Victor is so chill! :-D

I'm just so tired Sara!

Who says ?

Who says that you are unable to ride your horse well in a Cordeo?
If there is one thing that can make me a little annoyed it's when people have prejudices. I've written about it before and it's old news - in other words the "war" between "normal" riders and Bitless riders. But that's how it is.
But I think Victor has a very nice trot and canter, taking into account we have not ridden for a week and I ride him in a cordeo. I miss sometimes Victor's calm temperament when I ride Giga. If Giga and Victor could get mixed I would have the "perfect" horse. But there is no perfect horse, and thank God for that :-)

My parents farm in Sweden

Here's some pictures of my parents farm and stable. It's a pretty nice place :-)

A lovely but cold day!

Today I rode Victor in my new Cordeo. I made it myself. And I think actually it was quite nice. The training went really well. He was a bit lazy but he's always heavy in the beginning. My mom came out and took some pictures of us :)

Live like...

That's so true :-D

A small revelation

Today I got a small revelation. I have come to an conclusion; that I just have to enjoy the moment I live in. Yes, Giga is a bit strange these days BUT there's a small progress. As long as we just take one small step forward it's better than nothing.

Today I used much time on Giga. I brushed her for an hour almost. Then she got her cavesson on. I trained first some groundwork. A bit academic. With lowered head and calm movements. After having seen her temperament, I agreed with myself that I could easily ride her with my cavesson. And I was right. She was just so sweet. She was quite calm and did everything I asked her.

I didn't take any pictures today because I concentrate on our training and nothing else!

So my good news should be enough :-)

I hate imitators!

If there is one thing I HATE in life, it's when people imitates each other. Why? If I may ask. Once again I have been imitated. Not only does my pictures and texts get imitated, now there is someone who has taken it further. Now people are starting to imitate my website and blog. Please people, find your own style. You don't get far in life if you imitate everybody else.

Now, understand me right. It's fine to look up to people and then try to accomplish the same things. But imitation is not the way forward. We are all different and everyone has their own style - just trust yourself!

Horsebackcombat.

I found this awesome hompage yesterday. It looks så fun and cool! I want to learn that kind of "stuff". Check it out!

Progress

Today I saw a small progress in Gigas behavior. Very small but that's better than no progress at all! When I  got her out from the field, she was much calmer than normal. Unfortunately she started a lot of stupid things when I saddle her up. But when we came out into the woods she was kind of tired and calm. She found it very difficult to stand still but otherwise there were no problems. We rode only for 20-25 min. and after our little trip, she was completely finished.

Tomorrow I'll try to train her a little more seriously. Preferably without any stress. Let us see how it goes. She is very unpredictable at the moment.

Today it was the coldest day since last winter. It was -10. Ush, it's just too cold!

When animals surprises :-)

What I love most about animals is how they can surprise you. For example, in this picture. A small donkey shows its great jumping ability. I doubt anyone expected this jump.

Giga also surprised me today. When I called her name, I got a loving response. She came gladly down to me. But I had her food in m hand, so she was probably a little more happier to see me than usual :-b
I didn't have the time to train her today. She got some food and love, that's it. Tomorrow she's going to be trained.

AMAZING DAY!!!

What a fantastic day! Today we came out on our riding trip. It started to rain just before we were going to sit up on our horses and we just thought "Oh Hell No"! But in about 5 minutes did the rain turn into snow and the rest of our 1 hour long ride it snowed the whole time. It was so beautiful. Giga was a little nervous at first. But everyone was so sweet and said it was perfectly normal when everything is so new. It was really nice that we were like 6 people that rode out together. The most ironic was that I was the only who rode with a bit. Typical. But that is going to change soon. Such a good day. I have only good words to spare for all the girls at the Flower Farm!

21 Jan 2012

Horrible weather!

What a terrible weather. It was like half snow / rain storm. Unfortunately we couldn't ride. The weather was simply too terrible. But I trained some groundwork with Giga. But again today, she was quite impossible. I do not quite understand why she is so hysterical and nervous all the time!?

But tomorrow if the weather is nice, we're going to ride at 12 o'clock. I hope the weather is good!

Sir Victor

I'm sorry!

Sorry I have not written on my blog in a few days. But when I came to Sweden were both the internet and the mobilenetwork broken down. But I can write about the last few days now that i'm back in DK. Thursday, I did absolutely nothing with Giga, nothing more than to feed her and show my dad the Flower Farm.

The next day I rode Victor in the woods again wearing only a cordeo. It went really well. He seemed a little sad. I know i'm humanizing him now, but it was as if he missed Giga and tried saying it with his sad eyes. But he was probably just in his quiet mood, who knows. But we rode around a bit in the woods and took it easy.

Today i'm going to ride along with a lot of  girls from the Flower Farm. They will show me around in their woods. Unfortunately, I remembered that I have no saddle for Giga. So I have to ride her without a saddle, I'm a little nervous, since it is a long time since I have done it on Giga. You never know how her mood is at the moment.

What a day :/

When there's up's there's also down's. And I have had a really "bad" day.
Giga was really stressed out today. Our training went not good at all. First she pushed me up against the stable walls like 20 times. Up to several times I got pushed all the air out of me. She didn’t care about my commands and she had apparently forgotten all about a proper way to behave. It was really uncomfortable and frustrating.

Then she went completely crazy. She had no stop button when I came up on her back. She just rushed forward. I trained SOOO much her stop signal in walk (about one hour) and I got a positive progress out of it. However, she was completely impossible in trot and canter. It made me really sad to see her like that. We have taken like 1.00000 steps back. So I have much to work with, in the next several day’s maybe months, who knows.

Giga's new friend Maddi. She's also an Irish Cob. It's a bit funny that the only two Irish Cobs in the whole herd found together and are now really good friends.

17 Jan 2012

Today I asked Giga

...Whether she liked her new home. This was Giga's response:

I'll take that as a YES :-)!

With that said. I have had a really busy day. Stress! So I did not have much time for Giga today. But I let her run a little freely around out on the paddock. She was pretty fresh; she took a few rounds in gallop. She reared and bucked like a wild horse. Unfortunately I did not get some pictures of it becouse she stopped every time I lifted my camera up. Crazy Horse! So it was all the training she received today. A little fun in the paddock and that’s it. She got her food and was thrown out in field again. Poor horse. But tomorrow I have all day to her. That I look forward to!
