Home Sweet Home

I'm back at home (Denmark). I've been sick as you all know. So I haven't written much on the blog. I hope I get more energy to it. I've enjoyed seeing my horses again. They are doing well. However, there has been a lot of drama concerning. Victor's new rider.

Therefore I went home early to see how it all looked. I rode Victor, and he was REALLY signal confused. Poor horse, the new rider has just destroyed him! So now I have to start over with a part of his back and stop signal. Everything is quite messy in his head. He didn' seem happy, his spark in his eyes was completely gone. So I'm really upset. But everything's gonna be okay, he's a strong horse. So he'll get happy soon.
If you are wondering why I have a rider to Victor it's because right now I have no time for two horses. So I have tried to find a regular rider for him. Unfortunately, this girl wasn't very honest and responsible. Although she agreed to Victors special mind and that his shape right now wasn't that good. It sucks. But at least I have some honest friends, otherwise I wouldn't have figured it out so fast :-)

In the picture is my first rider to Victor. The two of them just fit perfect together. Her new horse died after she had had it for a month. So she just needed a break concerning. horses. Which is understandable. Fortunately, she wants to be his rider again. Which is a relief! :-)

Look at all the snow we had in DK!
I want it back, I hate mud!

The Draft Horse in Art

I'm just sitting and looking at some old antique pictures of horses on google, yea I'm a bit bored, it isn't easy for me lying in bed all day long. I found some really beautiful pictures of the big powerful draft horses.

This one looks like Giga!

Slept since I came home

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. Unfortunately, I have slept most of the day. I have actually almost only slept since I came home to the farm in Sweden. I have been really sick. So my holiday is pure relaxation in the bed.

However, I have had a really lovely evening and I've got some really great gifts. Here is a picture of some of the horse-related things.

The horses are doing well in Denmark. There are three sweet girls who are looking after them. I miss them very much. But now that I'm ill, it is very nice to be home and be cared for by my lovely mother.

Merry Christmas

Video Hungarian Post

Giga and Heaven. It's not me on them. My knee is still quite sore :-/

This is the first time Giga and Heaven tries Hungarian post.

The idea is that they should go together for a show on 19/1-2013. And as it looks now, they may well go good together :-)

Could Giga join the show?

Hello everyone!

Once again, I haven't updated my blog. I can only say it's my illness that keeps me back and everyday stress.

But the latest you heard from me was that Giga was going to Roskilde.
It started a little bad. I went out to the trailer with Giga but I don't think she saw the ramp, because suddenly she fell down with both front legs on the ramp. She laid down on her front legs a pretty long time and then she began sliding slowly down completely to the ground. Fortunately, she came up on her feet again and she was not frightened by the incident. She's just such a cool and calm horse! The rest of the road went really well to Roskilde. She got into a huge box with straw. She was just in the seventh heaven.

The next day we should ride quadrille riding. It went really good. She was praised by all even by my riding instructor. He thought she was the most beautiful Irish Cob he had ever seen. And I rode her just so nicely. I was almost embarrassed by all the praise we got :-)

After training came the decisive, could Giga join the show. She was put together with the Friesian horse, Heaven. In the beginning it didn't go too well. Heaven was not particularly fond of Giga and she threatened to kick her. But it actually ended up really good. As they became more familiar to each other. They just looked beautiful together. My riding instructor was so happy and fond that he offered me free stabling throughout January because he wanted to borrow her for the show! Awesome! I'm really proud of Giga. She's just a sweetheart.

Just a horse?

I've had a very exciting day at school

I've had a very exciting day at school today. First we had a vet out in the stable who showed us something about vaccines and rasping of the horse's teeth. It was very exciting and he was really good at explaining things in an interesting way.

Later we got riding lessons and had stable work to do. We're gonna ride a show on January 19th and the unique feature is that three people are going to ride a romanian style of riding. Ie they stand on two horses. Giga might be a part of it. I'm driving her up to the school Wednesday and then my teacher will judge if she's good enough :-)

Oregon Wild Long-haired Wonder Horses

There were, in the late 1800’s wild horses still roaming Oregon state in the USA, and they were prized for their exceptionally good looks and long manes, hence their being referred to as the ‘Oregon Wild Long-haired Wonder Horses. In early 1870, the first stallion captured, named ‘Oregon Beauty’ was mated with a Clydesdale female called ‘Oregon Queen’ and the first filly born in captivity arrived soon after, welcomed by the owners who were the Rutherford brothers.

Called ‘Linus’ this wondrous horse was taken around fairs, show-grounds and museums for many years, showing off her glorious long mane and general good looks. She was a genuine crowd-puller. Until 1887 she gave pleasure to untold numbers of sightseers, before being tragically killed upon being struck by lightning. Luckily, she had produced a son, also named Linus II, and the tradition was able to continue.

All Gigas tricks are a little rusty

All Gigas tricks are a little rusty, so we are about to refresh them. I know my timing is pretty bad.

Riding accident!

I was in a riding accident last Tuesday. That's why I havn't had time or energy to write on my blog.

I was out riding last Tuesday on a school horse. We had to walk them warm outside in the snow. I rode on good old LouLou. It all went fine until she slipped in the snow and looked like Bambi on slippery ice. She rolled down on the side and I laid under her. I got a blackout but I stayed on the her. I got a little bruised and I thought my knee was sprained so I've been to a lot of checks. But I'm okay now. I was just a little tired of my life last week!

Ever since my knee got better

I've had another busy day, big surprise? Ever since my knee got better, I just enjoyed being able to be active again!

I got up at 8 pm and drove up to my beautiful horses, I mugede their boxes and my friend's box. I prepared food ready for all horses and fought my way through a wild snowstorm to get hay for them. The weather today has been crazy, you'd almost think that I lived in Greenland or something. I can't remember the last time I've seen so much snow in Denmark.

After that I went to school. There I had to do stable work and I helped my teacher with traning of a Friesian mare. She had to get familiar with a horse-drawn carriage. She paniced in the beginning but it ended really nicely. And she got a good experience.

I didn't get time to ride Giga today. But I have some exciting things to look forward to. We might participate in a small show at the school in January. My teacher said that he just wanted to see her first and then he would decide whether we could participate the show :-)

Massive blizzard!

Yesterday the weather reporters had predicted there would be a massive blizzard today. And they where right. There was warnings on TV and on the radio that you shouldn't drive unless it was very important. Well, I thought, my horses are very important! And it didn't look so bad. But as I drove, I could see it was pretty serious. On the way out to the stable three people had a car accident. Fortunately no one was hurt.

Luckily, I'm half Finnish, so snow doesn't scare me ;-)

When I got to the farm I decided to muck the boxes immediately. Whew, it was hard work! When I have to get rid of all the horse dung I have to go up a really steep hill. And the hill was filled with snow. I think I'll soon get bigger muscles than my boyfriend with all the stable work I'm doing these days! :-D

Later I chose to ride Giga. Wow, I'm proud of that horse. She's just my dearest possession! There's great progress with me and Giga. She was just perfect today. She was beautiful and had a great posture. It may well be I don't always agree with my teacher's methods and approach to handling horses, but 2-3 hours of instruction each week has paid off. And I just love Kronplets indoor arena, it makes everything much easier when the weather is so bad and cold.

It is hard to see it in the picture but behind all horse dung there's a steep hill which I had to drive up and down with my wheelbarrow 5 times!

Poor Victor, he almost looks like a yeti :-D

A tough day

Yesterday I was so tired and exhausted that I just had to forget all about writing on my blog. I had two stables shifts yesterday. The first was at the stable where my horses are. I had to feed all the horses, give them hay on the fields, provide water and let them out. It was quite nice actually and I had the shift with a really sweet woman. I was a little excited to handle the stallions, you never know if they can be aggressive or fiery, but they were just so well-behaved that I completely forgot it was stallions I walked with!

After I had mucked my own boxes I had to drive to Roskilde where my school is located. There I also had  a weekend shift. I had to muck 9 boxes, give them breakfast, lunch and dinner hay and then I had to let the horses in from the feilds.

So I was active since 7 am until 5 pm. It's a long day, especially when you are sick and there are half a meter snow and -6 degrees.

That's so true!

Can you relate to it?
I can :-D

Glamorous day!

Today I have done notthing more glamorous all day, then I've mucked all the horses boxes and then I got all the horses from the feild and let them into the stable and fed them. Yay, exciting, huh? But it's also a part you have to take with you when you have a horse. It's not just about the riding, there is much more work to it than most people think. However, I love all aspects of having a horse!

I trained Giga very briefly, her concentration wasn't there today, and they had just gotten their food, so it wasn't the best time to demand anything of her. So we went for a walk inside the indoor arena. And then she got peace from me :-)

She is in turn become really good at standing still when I ask her to.

A Quote

Happiness can be found in the quiet wind that blows between the ears of a small cold blooded horse, dancing through the snow, while the sun sets over the forest in a ocean of golden clouds.

Cute picture!

These two friends, reminds me of my Victor and Baltezar. They could spend several hours playing outside in the snow. I miss my little Baltezar, but unfortunately I can't afford to have him here in Denmark. So he still lives at my parents farm in Sweden and he's enjoying life with a young stallion.

What a lovely day!

I've had a lovely day despite of I'm pretty sick. However, I chose nevertheless to ride Giga. She was just so good and obedient. I walked her warm in the indoor arena and rode her the rest of the time outside. A girl got some riding lesson so I wouldn't disturb.

It is funny how you completely forget that you're sick when you ride. I didn't cough one time on Giga but as soon as I jumped of her, my coughing started  again! So strenge?

Giga is just a dream to ride when she isn't in her temperamental mood :P

Don't ask me. That horse is pretty crazy. Horse like Owner I guess? ;-D

A blizzard came out of the blue!

Here are some pictures from today. Normally it takes 20 minutes to drive out to the stable today it took 40 minutes. All of a the sudden the sun disappeared and a blizzard came out of the blue ...

Unfortunately, I'm hit by a bad flu, so I only had energy to muck the boxes and groom Victor. I took him briefly into the indoor arena, it's important he learns to be alone without going completely in panic mood. He did well :-)

Beauty of the Day

I'm NOT one the phone

It's really weird but everyone always wants to contact me when I'm out riding or training the horses. It is certain every time.

Every time I get out to the stable a million people starts calling and text messaging me! [A slightly exaggeration]. But still, it's so annoying. I have tried many times to explain to people that when I'm at the stable I don't take my phone unless something  serious has happened.

Have you tried the same? Is it just me who is experiencing this?

Mystic warrior, he's just so handsome!

Too much snow!

Here in Denmark there has fallen so much snow in our area so the phone and internet cables has been bothered by it the past several days, so I'm so sorry for my inactivity on my blog!
