I simply love my farrier

Today the farrier came. I simply love my farrier, he's incredibly patient and kind to the horses, even when they begin to make trouble. Plus he always makes sure to use much time, there is never any stress.

Giga tends to be a little difficult, but today it suited her apparently. She was really nice and relaxed. Her mood is very happy at the time, I really believe the warmer weather and spring gives her renewed energy :-)

Now that's love!

It's true love when you only have to whistle once and your horse comes running like this.
Especially now that the grass is so desirable.
She's just such lovely horse <3

Spring

Spring is over us!

Spring Wonderland

Now that Giga can't be ridden, I spend a lot of quality time with her from the ground. Today I sat for two hours in the sun while she was grazing in front of me. It's so fun to see her, the first 5 minutes she runs around confused and have no idea where she should start eating, it's almost as if she thinks it is too good to be true. After an hour she finds time to come and say hello to me a few times, and after two hours, I just call her name once and then she comes willingly over to me.

She is simply so beautiful to look at, it's something I never get tired of. It's almost like therapy.

The grass is always greener by my side

There's one thing that I have been wondering about for many years. I don't really know if it's only my horses who does it, or whether it is a common thing.

The other day I let Giga get her first bite from the new spring grass, she was just so happy and got a bit silly. When I finally sat down in the grass to enjoy the sight of my happy horse, I managed hardly to sit down before she stood in front of me.

First she just checked me out and then she begang eating the grass right by my feet and around my body. She has an entire lawn but comes rushing up to me to eat only the grass I sit on. One thing is certain, if I sit on the largest field with high lush grass or if I sit on a small lawn, they ALWAYS come over.

My thought is either they enjoy my company and find it a little cozy, or then it's a mixture of curiosity and maybe a little hysteria, the grass I sit on is possibly the best on the entire field. As I said, I don't know if other horses have the same tendency, but mine have always done it. I think it's a funny habit, I love it when they get up close and grasses by my side.

Long Blog Break

I have taken a long break from the blog. I've been busy with both work, private life and my horses, so when I finally got home, I've went straight to bed!
Much is happening in these times, there are big plans ahead. I'll share my new fantastic news, when everything is 100% decided.

I'll start with the positive. It goes really well with Victor. Peter sees excellent progress, his trot has become much more free and less hassled. He has been far more willing to work, which indicates that the pain has been reduced.

Negative news is that Giga has been lame the last 14 days. The farrier took a look at her hooves, he found a crush in her one hind hoof, which approximately corresponds to we get a bad bruise. However, it is a sore point in the hoof, so just as I was in a good flow with the training I have had to put it all on hold. She's already much better, but it still so annoying now that I finally have been very motivated and got the spark back. But so it is with horses when you least expect it  something happens.

The farrier recommended that I bathed her hoof every day, just as a precaution if there would be little bacteria.

It's been a hell as Giga HATES getting wet legs. So it has taken me many hours, but we have come to a compromise. She keeps the hoof in the bucket, but she won't step fully down but she stands and dips the hoof up and down in the water :-D  Well as long as it gets washed, it is okay.

She looks simply so miserably in this picture. She looks almost mistreated, even though I have oftret half a dozen apples.
