Oregon Wild Long-haired Wonder Horses
There were, in the late 1800’s wild horses still roaming Oregon state in the USA, and they were prized for their exceptionally good looks and long manes, hence their being referred to as the ‘Oregon Wild Long-haired Wonder Horses. In early 1870, the first stallion captured, named ‘Oregon Beauty’ was mated with a Clydesdale female called ‘Oregon Queen’ and the first filly born in captivity arrived soon after, welcomed by the owners who were the Rutherford brothers.
Called ‘Linus’ this wondrous horse was taken around fairs, show-grounds and museums for many years, showing off her glorious long mane and general good looks. She was a genuine crowd-puller. Until 1887 she gave pleasure to untold numbers of sightseers, before being tragically killed upon being struck by lightning. Luckily, she had produced a son, also named Linus II, and the tradition was able to continue.

All Gigas tricks are a little rusty
All Gigas tricks are a little rusty, so we are about to refresh them. I know my timing is pretty bad.

Riding accident!
I was in a riding accident last Tuesday. That's why I havn't had time or energy to write on my blog.
I was out riding last Tuesday on a school horse. We had to walk them warm outside in the snow. I rode on good old LouLou. It all went fine until she slipped in the snow and looked like Bambi on slippery ice. She rolled down on the side and I laid under her. I got a blackout but I stayed on the her. I got a little bruised and I thought my knee was sprained so I've been to a lot of checks. But I'm okay now. I was just a little tired of my life last week!

Ever since my knee got better
I've had another busy day, big surprise? Ever since my knee got better, I just enjoyed being able to be active again!
I got up at 8 pm and drove up to my beautiful horses, I mugede their boxes and my friend's box. I prepared food ready for all horses and fought my way through a wild snowstorm to get hay for them. The weather today has been crazy, you'd almost think that I lived in Greenland or something. I can't remember the last time I've seen so much snow in Denmark.
After that I went to school. There I had to do stable work and I helped my teacher with traning of a Friesian mare. She had to get familiar with a horse-drawn carriage. She paniced in the beginning but it ended really nicely. And she got a good experience.
I didn't get time to ride Giga today. But I have some exciting things to look forward to. We might participate in a small show at the school in January. My teacher said that he just wanted to see her first and then he would decide whether we could participate the show :-)

That's why I love the academic art of riding. Everyone can participate :-)
