Spanish Riding School

If there's something that impress and inspires me it's the Spanish Riding School! I simply think their ethics on riding and handling of horses is amazing. They spend much time on perfecting that the horse's muscle are built correctly and that they mentally can follow the training. Beyond that, it's always looks very harmonious and beautiful when they ride their horses.

The methods used by the Spanish Riding School are based on François Robichon de la Gueriniere. It is a common myth that the movements were developed to aid in battle; in fact, they were used to strengthen the war horse's body and mind and make him a supreme athlete, not to actually attack. All movements are based on those naturally performed by the horse when at liberty, with the exception of one-tempi changes.

The stallions are taught in three stages:
- Remontenschule: ("forward riding")
- Campagneschule: ("campaign school")
- Hohe Schule: ("high school" or Haute Ecole)

The most awesome thing is that the riders, too, are carefully schooled. They first work on the longe without stirrups and reins on well-trained horses for up to 3 years, to teach a balanced and independent seat. They are then allowed to control the animals themselves, under the eye of an experienced rider, until they can perform the high school movements. With intensive training, this will take 2–4 years. The rider is then allowed to train a young stallion from unbroken up to High School, a process that usually takes 4–6 additional years.

Many could learn from the Spanish Riding School. I think every beginner should get trained in a longe first. The horse avoids a lot of unnecessary pain. And according to me it's the only right way to train people to ride.

Be strong...

Wii good news!

Wii good news! I was at the doctor today and I have not sprained my knee. However, I have got some impact on my shin and neck. I'm just so sore all over my body. But fortunately  my bruising and dents heals faster than anything sprained would do!

So in a few days, I should be as good as new :-D

This horse actually looks much alike the one I rode. And I'm sure it jumped as high as this one ;-)

Btw. I'm against Rodeo.

I'm impressed!

I'm impressed!

I would definitely recommend this product: Absorbine Medicated Shampoo
I washed Victor's legs Sunday and today he has virtually no more mud fever!

It's so awesome, I have almost tried everything to prevent the mud fever, so it's really nice I finally found something that works!

Remember to maximum wash with  the shampoo once a week. Once you have washed the legs with the shampoo remember to wash the legs every day with ONLY water and then apply the spray with disinfection :-)

A trip to the emergency room

Jup, it's true. I went to the emergency room today.
I fell off a BIG horse (1,85+) and I landed right on my bad knee. Typical!

I was in a longe and my teacher wanted us to practice balance exercises. Suddenly the horse gets too close to the fence, which is tied up by some strings, so my foot gets wrapped around it. The horse panics. And I just remember i saw us tear half the roundpen down and then I looked forward and saw it started jumping high up in the air! It's gaits was really weird and intense so I didn't have a chance.

I got shot straight up in the air and landed directly on my bad knee and then my head. I blacked out in some seconds and when I "woke up" agian all my friends and the teacher was standing around me. It was a bit embarrassing because we had a primary school class visiting us. But they got at least a show.

My teacher is very obsessed with pussing people to the edge. He wants almost to see blood and bones through the clothes before he lets you go from class. It's just tough love. He wanted me up on a horse again. But not the same, he wanted me up on a young horse whos not even ridden! Like WTF!

But oh well, the teacher's word is law. So I had to fight my way up on this young Welsh Cob. Fortunately, I didn't fall of. In spite of it was very nervous and full of energy...

Status regarding my knee: It's probably sprained again. I just love my life!

Equine Rule #35

This is Giga in nutshell!

Horse Life Sunday

I went to Horses Life today. I wanted to see a show with the academic riders from the farm I move my horses to. It's was a really nice show. I'm really looking forward to get to know them all. Their horses are just stunning!
